Some guides say that Ikebukuro, north of metropolitan Tokyo, Japan, is mainly a business district. In fact, today is a district entertainment with many restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and karaoke, arts and culture and the obligatory shopping upscale.

Ikebukuro is located practice to base because it has a large subway station, connecting many rows with the JR Yamanote Line, JR Saikyo Line, Tobu Tojo Line, Marunouchi and Yurakucho line.

Ikebukuro area is very built up and is to be just a little short on green space. There are small parks, but they tend to composed of lots of trees around a cobbled square rather than the beautiful gardens of Shinjuku Koen or the Western Garden of the Imperial Palace. However, if you are in place for shopping and entertainment district so it's great to visit.

Ikebukuro Station is bordered on two sides by large stores to marvel at massive Tobu and Seibu west to east. Both are filled with all the usual things you expect from a department store good such as perfumery and cosmetics on the ground floor, shelves and racks of designer clothes, toys, furniture and food hall animated in the basement. I'm not joking when I say it is quite possible to get hopelessly lost in these stores. If you see something that you want, you'd better buy there and then as you may not be able to find it later!

Once you are able to extricate the Station Area, west side, you'll find the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space. The concert hall is home to mainly classical concerts and orchestral and you will find also a cafe, gift shop and art exhibitions in the lobby. Opposite the main building is an open square that becomes the place a market of used books on Sunday.

The following cycle routes to the north and the east side of the station you will see many department stores, including several branches of Bic Camera electronics, Marui, Parco, Mitsukoshi, Tokyu Hands and Uniqlo.

One of the highlights of the region has got to be Sunshine City which is about 15 minutes walk east of Ikebukuro station. Sunshine City is a large shopping complex which is also home to major corporate offices, an aquarium and a planetarium. There are two floors of retail shops, most of which is in fashion and footwear women and, refreshingly, includes many smaller shops among the designer shops more exclusive. Outside of fashion for ladies, there are also some nice shops homewares, shop three coins when you can get good deals! That all costs 300 yen (plus tax, which makes about 312 yen!) And a shop for all your Ghibli Totoro, Kiki and Chihiro goods. The largest unit here appears to be occupied by Toys R Us in the basement.

There are, of course, many restaurants and cafes as well when you feel tired. You'll find everything from fast food restaurants such as McDonald's and Ten-ya, European style pastries quieter, more expensive Japanese restaurants.

The building exterior city of the sun, there are various Manga and Anime shops and is also this area there was a tendency for "Butler Cafes", the equivalent of girls Maid cafes?

Visit Ikebukuro can be exhausting, but it's fun and has much to offer in terms of shopping and nightlife.
