In reviewing the book The Culturally Customized Web Site by Nitish Singh and Arun Pereira there are three things that must be said:
- If you have an online business and truly want to market to the international audience through your website, get this book.
- If you an international profile and you want to expand your international outlook, get this book.
- If you are interested in different cultures and get to own a computer, take this book
This is the book that really excited me about the Internet marketing world. This was also the first book I read by authors from outside Europe who were very obviously cultural experts. Since reading The Culturally Customized Web Site I have read many more books by non-European experts on culture. And we came to this conclusion, the time when Europeans held the lead in understanding cultural happening.
The Culturally Customized Web Site uses cultural classifications Geert Hofstede to show and explain what works online in different cultures. The book is based largely on online, how these cultural classifications can be interpreted.
Nitish Singh and Arun Pereira break crops in the following categories:
- Individualism – Collectivism
- Uncertainty
- Power Distance
- Masculinity – Femininity
- Top – Background weak
Nitish Singh and Arun Pereira examples of websites. They also give readers 36 Web Functions to use on your site to adapt to different cultures. These features boost web marketing and alternative strategic international marketing.
The book is full of screenshots, examples and lists. It is inspiring and challenging. Take a few minutes to browse randomly online in the countries listed Even as you read the book, and it becomes easy to see and feel the cultural differences.

The Culturally Customized Web Site book has a website Not great, but it is fun in its cultural examples.
This book was originally published in 2005. Since then, countries have evolved in how they use the Internet and their e-commerce expansion.
I'd like to see something more recent on the same model but with examples that have evolved with the Internet.
