Dr. Gregg Rubinstein practices at the 57th Street Chiropractic in New York, explains the ins and outs of dealing with insurance and how people come to find its services:

Manufactured insurance cover chiropractic care?

Insurance helps to care for most people. One thing that is important to understand is that there are different types of care in the chiropractor's office. Some care, acute pain, corrective care, care and welfare. Everything with the insurance is based on pain. Insurance companies will pay enough to get the patient in pain or they deem medically necessary. Insurance companies do not pay for the care and well-being or maintenance care. They only pay for care needed to get out of the crisis. I need to provide charts and graphs more. And they make the decision if the care is medically necessary.

In my office, I do not care my recommendations based insurance. If I think you need 15 hits, but you are only allowed 10 hits by your insurance, I will not tell you that you need 10 visits. You need 15 if insurance supports the decision or not. I do not make recommendations that are far from ideal for this patient.

How do patients find you?
Patients are our offices in a variety of ways. The number one and the most rewarding is Direct referral by other physicians and our existing patients. We receive many referrals from other doctors in the community because we worked hard to establish relationships with orthopedists, neurologists and general practitioners in the region. I was fortunate to have good relations with many local doctors. I even had the opportunity to go to a big hospital and give a presentation on chiropractic. I do frequently lectures to church groups and other organizations on how to improve the quality of life through drugs active healthy living in freedom.

My office focuses on family care. I took a lot of additional training in the areas of pediatric care and pre-and postnatal. But I practiced for 19 years and have extensive experience with sports and dance injuries related as well. We see many families. I recently had four generations of women – a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and daughter. People also find us by word of mouth, books insurance, because we are close to their office. They come from everywhere. It is which creates the flow in my office.
