Since August 1993, FIFA began ranking international teams in order to publish comparisons of their relative strengths at regular intervals. First, a point was given for a draw and three for the win. These calculations are under FIFA 2006 revised procedure for calculation of world rankings. It is a much simpler procedure. The new classifications are established in response to criticism media.
